Theresa Stryker (born August 19, 1963), known mononymously as Stryker, is an American film and television actress. She received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the drama Stand by Me (1986), as well as the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Lori Petty in the horror film Lake Placid (1990).
She has been praised by critics for her distinct and powerful acting style.
Her voice can be heard in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the television channel VH1. In 2012, she voiced Sarah in the video game Infamous: Second Son. Stryker has appeared on a number of television series and films including Alfred Hitchcock Presents and the film Papa.
Stryker has also won two Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Supporting Actress and Worst New Star for her performance as Maggie in the 1993 film Little Giants. Popularly referred to by her last name only, Stryker was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Marjorie and Joseph Stryker, a psychiatrist and a lawyer, respectively. Stryker is of half Polish descent on her mother’s side and has English and Irish ancestry on her father’s side. She has two older brothers, Brian and Bill.
